NEWS AND INFORMATION AWESOME SWIMMING AT SOUTHEASTERNS AND YOUTH GAMES! WAY TO GO M*C*A*L SWIMMERS!!! RECRUITMENT ALERT!!! ONCE AGAIN A LOCAL YEAR-AROUND TEAM IS TRYING TO POACH SWIMMERS FROM M*C*A*L. Please be aware that a local year-around swim team is ACTIVELY recruiting right now. Their coaches, parents and swimmers are attending summer swim meets handing out pamphlets and talking to swimmers and parents trying to recruit them away from M*C*A*L. They are bad-talking M*C*A*L to anyone who will listen. As we have said in the past, this is a tacky, unethical practice and shows how desperate they've become. They must not have much good or positive to say about their own program so they have to try to spread negative untruths about the M*C*A*L program. If you are approached by another team's member, parent or coach and want to reply positively for M*C*A*L, please politely say to them, "Sorry, I swim for Coach Cal at M*C*A*L. It's nothing like you are saying. We are very happy there. Why don't you come swim with us. You'll see how wrong you are!" Invite them to join the M*C*A*L Family! Then get a copy of their pamphlet and give it to Coach Cal. We appreciate all of your support in this endeavor! I guess this is the price we have to pay for being the LARGEST TEAM in Birmingham! M*C*A*L FINISHED IN 9TH PLACE OVERALL AND WON THE MEDIUM TEAMS DIVISION AT SOUTHEASTERNS!!! This is quite an accomplishment for a team that is only 3 years old, placed 17th overall and 5th in the Medium Teams Division last year. WAY TO GO M*C*A*L!!! WE'RE SO PROUD OF ALL OUR SWIMMERS!!! Day Four (Sunday) Highlights - Anna McKenzie Moers placed 6th in the 10 & Under Girls 200 Free. Mallie Bromberg WON the 11-12 Girls 50 Fly AND the 11-12 Girls 100 Breast! Mary Clay Carr placed 4th in the 11-12 Girls 100 Breast. Ian Dexter placed 10th in the Senior Boys 200 Breast. Morgan Lineberry placed 2nd and Sissy Schultz placed 7th in the 10 & Under Girls 50 Back. Austin Harper placed 7th in the 10 & Under Boys 50 Back. Mary Clay Carr placed 7th in the 11-12 Girls 50 Back. WAY TO GO KIDS!!! YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB!!! Day Three (Saturday) Highlights - M*C*A*L WON THE 10 & Under Girls 200 Medley Relay and placed 2nd in the 11-12 Girls Medley Relay!!! These teams consisted of 10 & Under Girls Morgan Lineberry, Anna McKenzie Moers, Jessica Bilek and Sissy Schultz and 11-12 Girls Maddie Wohlfarth, Mary Clay Carr, Mallie Bromberg and Kelsey Williams. The 10 & Under Boys Medley placed 7th and consisted of Sadler McKeen, Michael Clark, Austin Harper and Luther Ward. M*C*A*L had SO MANY Team Records broken today and just about everyone swam best times. Mallie Bromberg placed 2nd and Mary Clay Carr placed 7th in the 11-12 Girls 100 IM. Nathan Thompson placed 7th in the 13-14 Boys 50 Free. Mallie Bromberg placed 3rd and Mary Clay Carr placed 7th in the 11-12 Girls 50 Free. Sissy Schultz is the SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPION in the 10 & Under Girls 50 Free. Anna McKenzie Moers placed 3rd and Morgan Lineberry placed 5th in the 10 & Under Girls 50 Free. Austin Harper placed 5th in the 10 & Under Boys 50 Free. WAY TO GO M*C*A*L!!! ANOTHER GREAT DAY IN THE POOL!!! Day Two (Friday) Highlights - M*C*A*L WON 2 RELAYS TONIGHT!!! The 10 & Under girls Freestyle Relay consisting of Anna McKenzie Moers, Morgan Lineberry, Sissy Schultz and Emily Besse swam their way to the title of SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONS!!! The 12 & Under Girls Freestyle relay consisting of Kelsey Williams, Mary Clay Carr, Mary Ellen Newton and Mallie Bromberg are SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONS as well. WAY TO GO GIRLS!!! The TEAM SPIRIT AWARD goes to Maddie Wohlfarth. Maddie was supposed to have been on the 11-12 Girls winning relay but hurt her neck during warm ups. She didn't think she could do her best, so gave her relay spot up Mary Ellen so her team would have a better chance of winning. WAY TO GO MADDIE! THAT'S WHAT TEAM SPIRIT IS ALL ABOUT!!! In addition to the great swims in Finals, there were many, many BEST TIMES and TONS OF TEAM RECORDS BROKEN in Prelims. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!! Day One (Thursday)Highlights WAY TO GO ANNA MAC AND KELSEY!!! Both girls had HUGE time drops and moved up in overall ranking.
